Civil Construction

About the Division

The Civil Construction Division was established as part of the Al Tasnim Group in 1976. From a relatively small start, executing concrete & block work subcontracts for some of the major international contractors involved in the early development of Oman’s housing & infrastructure, the division has grown greatly to become the major contractor it is today. The division is now one of the premier contractors in Oman & carries out a wide range of building projects from single villas to all aspects of major commercial & residential developments. Its capability to deliver civil & building works is supported by the group’s other specialist divisions.

During the journey from a subcontractor in 1976 to now being one of the largest Omani construction entities, the Civil Construction Division has been involved in many iconic buildings across the capital of Muscat as well as other iconic cities & has worked for many prestigious clients.

A key strength of this division is the ability to align itself with client requirements which leads to an in-depth understanding of client needs & expectations. This collaborative approach has often allowed cost savings to be made for the client & resulted in further contracts.

The Civil Construction Division is registered with various government tender boards as an Excellent Grade Contractor, & as of July 2016 employed over 10,000 staff, technicians, tradesmen & labour.

As main contractor, the Civil Construction Division can call on the various in house divisions to support it in effective & efficient project delivery.

Operations

Al Turki Enterprises Civil Construction Division is able to offer a full A to Z construction service & can deliver all elements of a building including external works & infrastructure. By utilizing the skills of other group divisions it can cater for 98% of the works involved in building construction. The small exceptions where external specialist sub-contractors would be used are for anti-termite treatment & LP Gas supplies. For these elements specialist sub-contractors are used.

Within the division there exists an Engineering & Technical Support department (E&TS) where a competency in Design & Build or EPC projects has been achieved. For major projects the design works are normally subcontracted to one of the international standard consultants operating in Oman. E&TS can provide design management, build ability options & value engineering proposals to ensure value for money for clients.

A major strength of the Civil Construction Division is the ability to carry out Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing (MEP) works, without having to sub-contract this element. This gives a competitive edge over most other contractors. By having the MEP works carried out by the main contractor, Clients achieve many benefits such as;

  • Programme Security;
  • Commercial Competitiveness;
  • Streamlining Management Team;
  • Site Efficiencies.

The division carries out operations countrywide & has centres in Muscat & Sohar to support project delivery.
