Project Details Project Location & Need:- The Project Section is located in Muscat Governorate on existing Qantab-Yiti Road in the Al Husn Village .The construction of New Approach Road ,Internal Roads & other infrastructure facilities in Al Husn Village Yiti, were planned in 2012 after the villages were devastated by flash floods caused by the unusual weather conditions that had hit the coastal areas of Oman in June 2007.

Scope Of Works:- This was a “Design & Built” project for the construction of 1.1km of Two Lane  Carriageway Access Road & Appx 9.5km of the Internal roads connecting appx 200 with following details of works:-

Access Road To Al Husn Village:- The Access Road was constructed thru a Hilly Terrain with a Max Gradient of 6.5% .The construction involved Drilling & Blasting of 1,25,000m3 of Hard Rocks & carrying out the Rock filling in High Embankments of height of Appx 30 mtr from the Ground Level. Pavement was consist of Granular Sub Base(GSB)-200mm, Aggregate Base Course(ABC)-150mm, Bituminous Base Course-60mm & Bituminous Wearing Course(BWC)-40mm. The Cut sections of the Rocks were stabilized using Short crete ,Rock Anchors, Wire Mesh system. Making access roads for the construction equipments & hauling of the Excavated rock for High Embankments in short lengths & Rough –Steep rough terrain  was a real challenge.

Internal Roads:- The Scope of internal Roads involves construction of 7 mtr wide Asphalt Road with 0.5 mtr paved shoulder on either sides & tie in with the entranced of each Villa. The Pavement was consist of single layer of Granular Sub Base(GSB)-200mm & Bituminous Base Course(BBC)-60mm thick.

Drainage & Protection Works:- For effective Drainage of the Water in  Steep Gradient in Access Road & Internal roads we have constructed RCC & 1000mm Dia Pipe Culverts. Reinforced concrete Storm water Drains are constructed all along the cut section.

For the protection of Cut Slopes ,the stabilization has been done using Plain & Reinforced Shortcerte -10,000m2, Wire Netting system & Rock Fall Barriers -App 15000m2. For weathered & Cracked sections of rocks- Rock Dowels has been fixed to stabilize. The high embankments are protected with Rip Rap.

Street Lights:-We have provided 8 & 10 mtr Light Poles in the Access Road & all along the Internal Roads for Street Lighting with a network of Cables & Feeder Pillars designed by us.

The project was successfully completed & Roads were opened for use in March 2016 for the residents.
